The best would have been not to use a credit card at all! But this so much a cultural item, that it’s unthinkable not to own one!

My problem is that to implement cutting on expenses like cable, magazines or dining out is to find things to do to replace these. Going to the library is out because it involves spending more money on fuel or public transit to read outdated magazines. If I go to the store to hang out and browse the latest magazines I may buy something on impulse therefore defeating the purpose of reading something for free.
What I have been successful with is the internet. Writing, commenting on peoples blogs, and reading posts on forums are some of the things I do besides taking my dog out for long walks. As long as I stay away from places like Costco and my neighborhood big box Drugstore and their computer department – I am a boredom impulse shopper – I’m fine.
