6 Reasons Why You Should Never Ignore Your Credit Card Debt

Posted on 18 December 2009

Nowadays there are many people who are  carrying around credit card debt and it feels as if you are bearing the weight of the whole world. So please act upon this advice: Never avoid your credit card debt.

By avoiding, I merely means completely forgetting it as if it doesn’t exist. People do this actually. They stop making payments, hide from the companies and do whatever they could to get away from debt. And don’t think of filing bankruptcy, until things go beyond your control.

Ignoring debt make situation more worse

Talking about credit cards, I must tell you that by ignoring your debt you are doing nothing but making your situation much worse. So, here I have mentioned 6 reasons why you you should not ignore your card debt.

1. Your phone will never stop ringing

The least thing that could possibly happen to you is that your phone will never stop ringing. They will trace you out, where ever you go, and the debt collections people will prompt you at work, home, school, etc.

It is true that there are laws in place that put restrictions on them that they can’t call you at certain times or at certain places, and that they are not supposed to be abusive. But they are always and they will be, and they will not stop doing so.

2. Your Credit Score will be affected

Your credit score will take a serious hit and this will affect much more than just a loan rate. It might make it harder for you to get a job, as some employers check credit reports now. Due to this you will get higher auto and other insurance rates, as they also look at your credit report. The interest on your unpaid balances will reach their peek, which will increase the time length in which you can payoff your debt.

3. Their might be a reduction in your paycheck on a weekly basis.

No one can stop a company from garnishing your wages to help pay back your debt. And you work all week and in the end get a $53 paycheck the this must not make you happy.

4. You will never get another loan for anything.

Well, you may get some loan at 39% interest so you can get a car but this can turn that $5000 Honda into a $45000 Honda in just no time. But you will not be able to get a mortgage loan or a regular auto loan if you will have this black mark is with you.

5. Interested in renting a house or an apartment?

If you are willing to rent a house or an apartment then you should forget that. This is because as soon as the landlord sees your credit report, they will never take a chance to rent you a house as they won’t be sure that you would pay the rent each month or not.

6. On a personal note, your relationships will suffer.

If the bill collectors are constantly hounding you, you are unable to pay for groceries and gasoline, you are forced to ride your bike on dates and all your credit cards are not accepted at dinner, the you should forget about going on a date.

And if you are a married person then also you might soon be on the road to divorce, which is a big trouble, especially for guys, as it can just add more weight to your already existing debt.

These are those reasons due to which you should never ever ignore your credit card debt. It might seem harsh, but it is a fact that these are the types of things you have to face in case if you don’t pay your debt.

You have options to come out of debt

There are ways by which you can get out of your debt. You may reduce debt through small payments, you may borrow from family members, negotiate your debt with your creditors.

Hiding from Creditors Is not the way to get rid of debt

You have created the debt and haven’t faced any problem doing it. But now as you have created it on your own so you have to pay it back as well and hiding from them is not the way to get rid of it. It will only make the situation worse.
